ABOUT THE GEORGETTES
Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to promote school spirit, strive for excellence in
dance and to set an academic and behavioral example for fellow students. Georgettes will represent
the high school at appropriate athletic events and school functions, as well as competitive dance events. Good sportsmanship and conduct will be stressed at all times. Further purpose includes developing character, leadership and individual responsibility in each member while maintaining high standards. Each team
member agrees to abide by the rules and regulations as set forth in this constitution.
The dance/drill team performs at all of the Eagle Football games, and pep rallies as well as attend several competitions, and host the Annual Georgette Spring Spectacular.
Georgette History
The Georgettes were created during the 1973-1974 school year. Marilyn Hampton served as the Director of the Georgetown High School Georgettes and shared her gift for the performing arts with Georgetown students from 1986 until 2004. Georgetown ISD officially dedicated and renamed the Georgetown High School dance studio in memory of Marilyn Hampton Shoemaker on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
Phaedra Walker served as the director from 2008-2012.
The Current Director, Nikki Prosser began serving as director in 2012. She previously taught Dance and PE at KIPP Austin Academy of Arts & Letters. Nikki is a former Kilgore Rangerette, and Lady Wrangler for the Austin Wranglers Arena Football Team. She has a background in jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, and kick. Nikki participated in dance team in high school as well.
